Turkey and Fig Jam Salad

December 03, 2018

It has been over a week since Thanksgiving, and I still have leftover turkey. Instead of wasting the turkey, I decided to use the turkey the same way I would use rotisserie or leftover chicken. I shredded up the turkey and made some turkey and fig jam salad.

Matcha Green Tea and Blueberry Waffles

December 02, 2018

I woke up early this morning to drop Kevin off at a friend’s home. He is carpooling with a few friends to Boston for a work trip. When I got home, I was especially craving waffles and have been wanting to make waffles for some time now. Waffles were a breakfast treat I ate a lot of growing up. My parents didn’t actually make waffles from scratch. Instead, they bought the prepared Eggo Homestyle waffles from the store for my brothers and I.

Grandma Wetzel's Sand Tarts

December 02, 2018

I’m very excited to share a recipe from my friend, Courtney’s family. I’ve been watching Court roll out these super thin, almost translucent sugar cookies for the last few years and never knew what these cookies were called. When Court hosted her cookie making and decorating party again this year, I knew I wanted to find out more about her family’s cookie recipe.

Roasted Turkey with Rosemary Butter

November 26, 2018

It’s Cyber Monday today. I’m still working on finalizing my holiday gift shopping for family and friends. I always thought the best deals would be on Black Friday of each year, but I’m beginning to notice Cyber Monday has its own deals and sometimes even better deals. The unpredictable discounts make it difficult for me to time exactly when to get gifts for the best prices. I took a break from online browsing/shopping to work on this post about my Thanksgiving turkey.

Mixed Berry Smoothie Bowl

November 25, 2018

Thanksgiving weekend is coming towards an end. I spent the entire long weekend indulging in warm, comforting food. I still have containers of leftovers sitting in my refrigerator. Instead of just packing up the leftovers in separate containers, I divided all of the leftovers evenly across several meal containers to bring to work for lunch throughout the week. Today, I was craving a lighter, fruit-based breakfast to start my day.

BBQ Turkey Pizza

November 24, 2018

The days after Thanksgiving are the perfect time to incorporate leftovers into new dishes. I love being able to develop new dishes using leftovers from Thanksgiving. We had a lot of leftover turkey from Thanksgiving dinner so I used the leftover turkey the same way I often use leftover chicken. I decided to make some soup and pizza. I made turkey noodle soup the night before and reserved some of the leftover turkey for BBQ turkey pizza this morning.

Apple Pie

November 22, 2018

It’s Thanksgiving Day. The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade is playing on television in the background. I’m preparing my apron to begin tackling Thanksgiving dinner prep. I started working on the dinner menu two weeks ago. It underwent a few drafts, but I finally settled on the dishes I’ll be making this year.  Thanksgiving dinner will feature some classic dishes balanced with some reimagined dishes.

Cinnamon Rolls

November 20, 2018

I love everything about Thanksgiving – the extra-long weekend, the comforting food, the post-Thanksgiving shopping rush, and the Saturday football game. I even love the entire preparation process from brining the turkey the night before to making the sides, desserts, and drinks on the day of. Once all of the food comes together, I feel a sense of accomplishment. I get to enjoy delicious, homemade food right before rushing to the mall to buy holiday gifts for family and friends.

Chocolate Dipped Potato Chips

November 19, 2018

The first time I had chocolate covered potato chips was by accident. I was riding the red line from the loop back to my home in Chicago. On my way back, I stopped into a local Trader Joe’s to pick up groceries. As I was browsing through the shelves looking at chocolate covered treats, I noticed a light blue and yellow package labeled Milk Chocolate Covered Potato Chips. I knew I had to try it.

Caprese Frittata

November 18, 2018

I grew up eating some of the best Italian dishes offered in New York City. My entire family is made up of foodies, but my younger brother, Yu, is probably the biggest foodie in our family. I have to credit my younger brother for introducing me to some of simplest, yet tastiest dishes. One of his favorite salads is an Italian caprese salad featuring mozzarella, tomatoes, basil, and finished with a splash of balsamic vinegar.
